Job OverviewAs a Youth Homework Volunteer with Youth Empowerment Society, youll play an essential role in helping students in our community succeed academically. Youll provide individualized homework support and mentorship to youth, helping them build strong study habits, improve their academic skills, and increase their confidence in learning. Youll be a part of a dedicated team that is passionate about youth empowerment and academic success!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Homework Assistance: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as they work through their homework assignments. This could include subjects like math, science, reading, writing, or social studies.
  • Mentorship and Encouragement: Offer guidance, motivation, and positive reinforcement to students. Help them stay focused and overcome any academic challenges they may face.
  • Create a Supportive Learning Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow.
  • Track Progress: Keep track of student progress, challenges, and achievements, and report back to program staff when needed.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with the Program Coordinator or other team members regarding student needs, challenges, and successes.
  • Model Good Study Habits: Demonstrate effective study techniques and organizational strategies that can help students improve their homework skills.
  • Provide Feedback: Offer constructive feedback to help students improve their work and learning strategies.
